The proposed amendment is now in "drafting" so that it can be presented when the session returns for 2018. It will amend the current F.S. 828.12 (2)(a)(b) from a third degree felony to a second degree which is a felony punishable up to 15 years in prison, along with other changes to make stricter and harsher punishment for anyone abusing, torturing, or killing an animal. The amendment will also allow for larger fines, higher points on the criminal score-sheet changing the current level 3 to a level 4, psychiatric evaluation and most important NO ANIMALS at the court's discretion. I still have a long road ahead but this is a great start in the right direction with the right people to get this statute amended and give the animals the justice they deserve!!
