Hi All

Point Reyes National Seashore is planning to release their Record of Decision in early 2020.   Their preferred alternative includes expanding ranching in the seashore, diversifying industry operations, granting 20-year leases (locking in industry for the next generation) and killing Tule elk-- even when their numbers should be growing.

Just today, a letter signed by over 11,000 scientists declared that the world is in a climate emergency.  Climate change and its effects are here and accelerating faster than anticipated.   Animal Agriculture is one of the leading causes of this climate emergency.  Livestock and their byproducts account for at least 32 million tons of CO2 annually.  Methane is 25-100 times more destructive in a 20-year timeframe.  Animal agriculture is the leading cause of species extinction, water pollution and habitat destruction.

While the climate emergency seems too big to tackle at times, the issue at Point Reyes is VERY tangible.  We are asking the National Park to do its job-- protect wildlife, protect biodiversity, save the Tule elk, and phase out the industry responsible for such damage.

We have a few months to raise public awareness and outcry.  Last week we held the first of a series of peaceful demonstrations we will be hosting to build momentum and demand the National Park save our seashore!

Please spread the word, come out to an action, and sign up for our mailing list on www.forELK.org to stay informed of ways to get involved.

Peace, Love & Tule elk,
Diana
