Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to post a quick update. First of all, thank you!!! 10,000 signatures, 69,745 views, and 3,780 shares in a week and a half. When I first posted this petition, I was unsure whether a significant number of people would support this idea- I'm glad to know that was far from the case.
On top of sending this petition to key decision makers, I've also sent emails out to MPP's in the GTA and Niagara region. The good news is that so far the response has been very positive. Some quotes from these emails included "it's a very interesting idea worthy of exploring... we agree that how long they're asking people to wait is unacceptable," and "We agree that exceptions to normal policy need to be made in order to accommodate the hundreds of thousands still waiting."
As we have yet to see changes implemented, I have a few next steps for everyone so that we can get the our message through to key stakeholders:
1. Keep sharing this petition! The more signatures we can get, the more likely we can get the attention of the public and news agencies- increasing the likelihood we catch the attention of the government.
2. Send this petition to Caroline Mulroney, Minister of Transportation. This can be done through email at minister.mto@ontario.ca, caroline.mulroney@pc.ola.org as well as Twitter, @ONtransport & @C_Mulroney. You can also send this petition to the Associate Minister of Transportation, Hon. Stan Cho at stan.cho@ontario.ca and Twitter @StanChoMPP, and Doug Ford at doug.fordco@pc.ola.org and Twitter @Fordnation.
3. Email your local MPP's! The list of MPP's with contact information can be found at https://www.ola.org/en/members/current/contact-information. These are people who can help forward the petition and catch the attention of the leaders in charge of such decisions.
Thanks for the support! This is just the beginning- let's ensure that real changes are made to address this ever-growing issue.
