This sounds like a perfect plan. However, we have a larger problem in the social work and mental health profession. There are not enough social workers who are licensed to meet criteria of the position. I started a petition in April of 2020, I am in need of help making this request a reality #mentalhealthshortage petition link can be found in BIO. Social Workers and other mental health professional’s should take this opportunity to demand to be grandfathered in (licensed in) starting with NYC if this program should be implemented. The President and or the Governor’s are the ones who can approve the EXECUTIVE ORDER along with the Legislation Council TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. All mental health professional’s should make this petition a priority. Especially the ones who work in NEW YORK CITY. For decades we’ve been working in unsafe environments, solving society needs and improving the quality of life for others. All we ask is to help improve our quality of life by grandfathering us. So, we do not have to worry about a test in the middle of the work that they are asking us to do. They didn’t see us as valuable in the beginning and now they see us as a need. They will need us first before we need them. So, why not ask for what we WANT?MAKE #mentalhealthshortage an important #. Sign the petition and repost it. Write an email to the governor’s office. This will allow us to be who we truly want to be in life. I promise you if you go on this adventure with me you won’t regret it and it will be so much fun!! It wouldn’t feel like work.
