Mahdi Razani, an active member of the association, was the first signatory of this petition and an advocate for Majidreza Rahnavard, leading the efforts in support of him. This petition was launched on November 25, 2022, during a critical period with severe internet and social media restrictions, and within a few days, it gathered more than three thousand signatures. Its main goal was to protest the unfair trial and to prevent the execution of Rahnavard, an Iranian activist and dissenter.
Iranian state media reported that Rahnavard was executed on the morning of Monday, December 12, 2022, following a death sentence for allegedly attacking security forces in Mashhad. Opposition activists and independent sources stated that the trial was a sham, the proceedings were unfair, and the charges against him were fabricated.
Upon learning of the execution, the petition was deactivated, as continuing to collect signatures would no longer have been effective in saving his life. This experience demonstrated that even in extremely difficult circumstances, solidarity and collective effort can make voices heard worldwide. Today, despite ongoing restrictions, it remains our responsibility to preserve the voices of victims and justice-seekers and to keep their memory alive.
