Mhlotshana High School, once a renowned institution that produced countless successful professionals and politicians, has unfortunately fallen into neglect and disrepair since its closure in 2015 due to government defunding. 

The premises have become a hub for criminal activities, including vandalism, drug use, and illegal dumping. Our municipality has not been collecting garbage for years and so people are dumping their garbage there. People are smoking all sorts of drugs there. People are no longer stealing the building's material now they are stripping it off in broad daylight and selling it to the community. Bricks, Window Frames, and more.

As concerned members of the community, we believe it is time to reclaim this space and transform it into something that will benefit us all. We are writing to request your support for this petition and a cause that holds significant importance for our cultural development and revitalization at Sada.

This is a petition requesting the Department of Public Works & Infrastructure to grant our Arts Development non-profit organization permission to take ownership of the Mhlotshana High School premises and establish a community arts center. This center would serve as a vibrant hub for artistic expression, cultural enrichment, and community engagement. It would offer a wide range of programs and services, including art classes, workshops, exhibitions, performances, and community events.
