Dear Adam Silver and NBA: Please make the NBA's first ever 1v1 Tournament a reality!

For decades, fans have debated "who would win in a 1v1".  From playgrounds, to podcasts, barbershops to sport shows. Now it's time to bring this dream to life on the biggest stage: The NBA All-Star Weekend.

This Tournament would be more than entertainment. It would celebrate the purest form of basketball competition. Nothing would be more competitive than seeing  our favorites NBA players, playing against each other in a 1v1. Fans deserve the chance to finally see the matchups we have imagined for decades: Curry vs Kyrie, LeBron vs KD, Giannis vs Embiid, Jokic vs AD, Luka vs Shai, and beyond. That would truly be a dream come true! The truth is, many of these legends are nearing retirement and we may never get the chance to watch them battle it out in the 1v1 tournament fans have always dreamed of unless we raise our voices and with the agreement of Adam Silver and the NBA, make it a reality!

Proposed format:

• First to 7 points (1s and 2s scoring system. Three point line buckets count as 2 points.)
• No "make it, take it" (every basket change possession)
• Finalists,  will play first to make 11 points. (Each bucket will counts as 1 point)
• Fans can vote on dream matchups, giving them a voice in shaping the bracket.
• 8 first round matchups would be reasonable
• 4 second round matchups
• 2 third round matchups
• 1  championship game

 

Why now?

The NBA has always evolved by listening to its fans. From the Slam Dunk Contest to the 3-Point Contest, these innovations became iconic parts of All-Star Weekend. Adding a 1v1 tournament would take the event to a historic new level of competition and will add a lot of excitement on every NBA fan around the world including NBA players which have shown interest over the years in a tournament like this.

We've heard players talk about it in interviews, podcasts,  and social media, debating who they'd face in a 1v1 and how exiting it would be.

 

We call on Adam Silver and the NBA to make this vision a reality for the 2025-2026 season. Fans have waited long enough. The time is now!

The players are ready. The fans are ready. The league can make it happen!
