Amber Heard has filed opposition to Johnny Depp’s request for a continuance, for a whole bunch of reasons. She says that his need to work is not “good cause” for a continuance, and that if the court grants one, it will set a “highly problematic” precedent. He could, and should have worked his filming schedule around his deposition instead. She thinks, apparently, that Depp has the power to make a multi-million dollar film, its cast, crew, and schedule revolve around him, at her whim.
Doesn’t work that way. It would cost millions for the movie to wait for him to go to court, if that were even possible. Court is flexible. Filming a movie is not.
Heard also says that it is of the utmost importance that the trial proceed as scheduled so that she can put a stop to Depp’s “daily” smear campaign of her through social media.
More than that, she bemoans the cost of maintaining her legal defense for an additional five months, the amount of time Depp is seeking.
She says that requesting a continuance, in part, because of Covid protocols, shouldn’t happen because even though it is good cause, it’s already been done twice. Apparently, she thinks twice is enough, and never mind that the pandemic is far from being resolved.
With regard to filming schedules, Heard says that she was told that Aquaman was going to start filming sometime in the spring – WB didn’t tell her exactly when. So, if she’s in the movie, a continuance would interfere with HER filming schedule.
We already know that she’s not in Aquaman 2, and she knows it, too. She’s pulling this out of her arse just to try to deny his request for a continuance. I mean, I can be TOLD that Aquaman is filming in the spring. That doesn’t mean I’ll be in it. Doesn’t mean she will, either. And for them not to tell her exactly when filming starts is a huge red flag. Johnny’s known for months ahead of time when FB3 was going to start filming. Certainly, if she was going to be in a blockbuster, she’d know when she was supposed to show up to film it so that she could arrange her schedule accordingly.
Heard went on to slam Adam Waldman, Johnny Depp’s lawyer, claiming that he’s done all sorts of things that are improper, maybe even illegal, based on social media posts that she doesn’t like.
I think my favorite line is when she says that she “intends to vindicate herself at trial.” Just like she did in London? Because that was just one big Charlie Foxtrot for her.
Every day that passes, she insists, provides further opportunity for Depp and Waldman to smear her good name, tarnish her reputation, and irreparably damage her career, which has long been Depp’s stated goal.
His STATED goal? When and where did he STATE that his goal is to irreparably damage her career? She needs to be careful with her wording. She’s already being sued for defamation. I don’t think it’s the best idea for her to defame him in ongoing court documents.
I have paraphrased a long document, so please feel free to read the whole thing HERE. It’s a whole lot of her saying she doesn’t want to court to grant Depp a continuance, without much – if any – substantial reason why he shouldn’t get it. All she’s got is her nonexistent filming schedule and a nonexistent smear campaign by Depp and his lawyer. Basically, she’s got nothing.
Please have a read and tell me if you agree. Does she have any good reasons why Depp shouldn’t get a continuance, or is she flat outta gas?
