In a hail Mary bid to get the suit dismissed, the Sun (et al) filed a motion to dismiss over texts they say Depp didn't submit to the court. 

It didn't work.

The judge has decided that Johnny Depp's litigation against The Sun owner News Group Newspapers over a 2018 article in the tabloid that cast him as a "wife beater" can go ahead.

The trial is set to start next Tuesday, July 7th.
