Johnny Depp’s lawyer claims Amber Heard‘s attorney is the one with ties to Harvey Weinstein, not Depp, after Heard filed a subpoena seeking to get the Weinstein Company to turn over details of Depp’s dealings with the disgraced Weinstein.

"Weinstein’s real association is with Roberta Kaplan herself,” Waldman said. Roberta Kaplan was formerly Harvey Weinstein's lawyer, and now represents Amber Heard. 

Kaplan and Tina Tchen, the founders of the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, have a client list of accused abusers and hoaxers that includes Jussie Smollett, Harvey Weinstein and Amber Heard.

“Real abuse victims deserve better self-appointed leaders than these buck-chasers,” Waldman said.

Kaplan and Tchen did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Waldman’s claims.

Depp has set forth a motion to quash Heard's request for information from the Weinstein company, stating that it's overly broad and isn't within the scope of the case.

For all appearances, Heard's request is a hail Mary attempt to smear Johnny Deep by association to Weinstein and distract attention away from the case at hand. The Defamation case against Heard for calling Depp a wife-beater when she herself is the one with a history of committing domestic violence against Depp and prior lovers.

Heard's spokesperson insists that Johnny Depp continues to try his case in the court of public opinion, while Heard looks forward to winning the case in court.

As of now, that's slated to get started on August 3rd, 2020. We'll have to see how that comes out.
