The ongoing closure of Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital (CMJAH) following a fire in April is a humanitarian disaster. We cannot provide adequate healthcare. Specialised surgery and cancer treatments are disrupted. 

The COVID third wave is here and more people need hospital care. Patients lie on stretchers or the floor waiting for beds. Our patients are suffering. Our healthcare workers are overburdened. The provincial healthcare system is in a crisis!
