Save Afterschool

Save Afterschool
The Issue
The proposed DC budget for the 2015-2016 school year has significant cuts to afterschool programming. This will harm thousands of children and youth in Washington, DC.

These cuts are especially damaging because the District is cutting both the DCPS Out-of-School Time budget by 50% and discontinuing $2.5 million to DC Trust afterschool grants.
As a DC community member/parent/advocate/teacher, I ask the DC Council to fully fund afterschool in DC’s FY16 Budget. Specifically, I ask the DC Council to:
- Maintain DCPS afterschool funding at $6.5 million.
- Keep the DCPS Out-of-School Time coordinators and central office staff to maintain the District’s afterschool infrastructure.
- Maintain funding to afterschool Trust grantees at $2.5 million
Thank you for considering my concerns.
