Hello to all 206,170 of you! Well, first of all apologies for such a long time between emails!! But we have been holding-on-to-our-hats BUSY here!! Now then, such is the nature of campaigning a few bits and pieces which are keeping us occupied we can’t actually share with you yet…but know that from top secret exciting projects to big companies finally appearing to listen…things are happening!!! : ) But it’s not just us who have been busy! You have been too!! Blimey you’re on campaigning fire..from letter lobbying businesses, starting your own local campaigns, being featured in your local papers, photobombing Rupert Murdoch, to popping up with stalls at events or taking over Lush stores to chat and get signatures. You’re doing so much. THANK YOU. This is such a wonderfully people powered movement. Part of the reason we’ve been so busy is that Rupert Murdoch himself tweeted that we may be seeing the end of Page 3. And whenever he does that he gives us a great PR boost and we have to do a lot of media (thank you for that, Mr Murdoch) We’re not dancing just yet though as he effectively asked the question ‘should we objectify women naked or in ‘some fashionable clothes’ (Hmmm..what do you think? negligee? Cagoul?) But we have to be encouraged that he’s thinking about the issue. Sum of Us started a petition which to date has over 54,000 signatures!! Have you signed? Some of their members have already had the Sun banned from their places of work, and they are encouraging people to tweet incidences and experiences of Page 3 at work under the hast-tag ‪#‎page3doesntwork‬ Don’t forget that there is legal advice to support you if Page 3 is making you feel uncomfortable at work here http://nomorepage3.org/news/has-page-3-made-you-feel-uncomfortable-at-work/ As you know some months ago the Sun’s Page 3 teamed up with breast cancer charity Coppafeel. This partnership will soon be coming to an end but the linking of soft porn and breast cancer has understandably upset and outraged a lot of people. Incredibly brave women are still writing powerfully on the subject, some of their blogs even going viral. We are so grateful to them. And our incredible teammate Lisa Clarke (nurse, mother, campaigning super-legend, future PM!) has just run 26 miles (yes! How does she do it?!) for hugely supportive Nottingham Forest Ladies FC. Nottingham Forest Ladies have suffered huge funding set backs recently and Lisa is just £149 from her target of £1000 with 2 days to go and as with all crowd sourcing, if she doesn’t reach £1000 Notts Forest Ladies get nothing!
