The current system of First Past The Post is backwards in a country that prides itself on democracy. It is not a fair representation of which parties the
people vote for.
Here is a breakdown of the number of votes in the 2015 UK election:
- Conservative: 11.3 million
- Labour: 9.3 million
- UKIP: 3.9 million
- Liberal Democrats: 2.4 million
- SNP: 1.5 million
- Green: 1.2 million
Under a Proportional Representation system the number of seats would have been:
- conservative: 240
- Labour: 213
- UKIP: 83
- LibDem: 53
- SNP: 37
Under the current system of FPTP the number of seats are:
- Conservative: 331
- Labour: 232
- SNP: 56
- LibDEM: 8
- Green: 1
- UKIP: 1
Please call upon David Cameron together to abolish this system and introduce a fairer system of PR in it's place.
P.S: while you are here please check out another group that is dedicated to a reform of the voting system, support them, sign the petition and let others know of this group too. Thanks.
