Good afternoon everybody! It's been almost a week since my last update, and that's because there hasn't been a huge amount to report just now, however a few bits and pieces HAVE happened.
Firstly, there's been loads of media coverage both online and in paper form. This is fantastic, and it's still happening now. I'm still having people messaging me links to various articles too, which is great!
Another thing that's media-related is the beautiful flower laying at the address in Redcar where this horrendous incident happened. A fair few people showed up, and many bunches of flowers were laid to remember poor Baby. Sadly Anna Turley wasn't able to attend, but she was there in spirit and fully supported the vigil - big shout out to Paige Dorgan, the woman that organised the flower laying! I have linked the article written by the Gazette into this update, so you can all have a read.
With regards to the letter Anna Turley wrote to the Justice Secretary, I Tweeted her earlier on in the week for an update. She has informed me (and the rest of the Twittersphere) that it may take a couple of weeks to get a response, but that's still ongoing and hasn't been brushed under the carpet!
Finally, I pulled the fundraiser earlier this week after over £3500 was raised. The reason for this is that both Stripe and GoFundMe have made an error with the fundraiser page, and have charged the account with "administration fees". I am quite rightly disgusted and upset about this, and I am in talks with them to have the charges reversed. I have reiterated to both firms that this is a charity collection, NOT a personal funds collection, and I will be doing everything I can to regain the funds lost (about 8.5%). In the meantime, I am disgusted (as I'm positive all 424,000 of you will be!) with the greed of these two organisations, and I will not be using them in future for such purposes! At present though, I am getting trickles of the funds released to me daily by stripe (highly frustrating!), and the current funds I have received ready to be sent on a cheque to the RSPCA Middlesbrough and S. Tees branch stands at £3140.74, with more still to be released. This is an incredible amount, and once I have finished receiving the funds and have hopefully regained these "admin fees" taken from the fund by GoFundMe/Stripe, I will be writing a cheque and sending it to the branch in question. I will of course be making a donation into the pot as well, as my financial situation allows!
Thank you everyone for your continued support with this case, your shares, your Tweets, your emails, so on so forth, it's absolutely incredible! I will continue to update live via Twitter (@scarfey1991), and all big updates will be put out via this page in the form of an official update.
Until next time!
Much love,
Alex
