For first time buyers looking to get a reasonable/affordable home particularly in the South East/London it is now almost impossible. Having just put in an offer on a refurbished property - along with 27 others (the vast majority of those looking to buy to rent out) - I thought I'd raise this stressful situation shared by many people looking to get on the property ladder.

Many Estate Agents are not helping the situation by giving investors first choice on new properties which I have witnessed on a number of occasions.

A limit on the number of properties residential investors can own needs to be set to give first time buyers a chance of owning their own home.

Obviously the seller of a property has the right to sell their home for as much as they can get but if first time buyers can come up with an equal or higher priced offer than the investor then FTB's should be given the opportunity to buy first.
