Force UK supermarkets to give away unsold food to charity
The Issue
Supermarkets throw away millions of potential meals every year.
In the UK the poor and desperate typically get prosecuted for theft when taking edible 'waste' food from supermarket bins.
Clearly this is huge waste of resources, especially when so many people are in need.
France have just passed legislation forcing supermarkets to donate such 'waste' food to charity or for use as animal feed, clearly this is a much better use for the resource.
I urge David Cameron to set wheels in motion for similar legislation in the UK.
