DEC 31, 2018 — Dear Friends,

Thank you once again for supporting the petition.

As I have said before, I only post updates when I feel there is something we can do, or some sort of direct action we can take to help save the lives of the two innocents, Wai Phyo and Zaw Lin, and bring justice and closure to the families of David Miller and Hannah Witheridge.

This time, I am asking you to do something a little different.

On Christmas Eve 2018, being the third anniversary of the convictions of the Burmese scapegoats, the Australian lawyer, Ian Yarwood published a music video on YouTube to the tune of “House of the Rising Sun” but with new lyrics and the title “Death Island of the Setting Sun.”

Here is the link:

Lyrics appear on the screen in both English and Thai. Ian will probably be adding the lyrics in Burmese script in comments under the video in the near future.

There is also an explanation of some of the lyrics in the commentary under the video.

The video does highlight the murders of David and Hannah and the plight of Wai Phyo and Zaw Lin on death row, but it also covers over a dozen other tourist deaths on the island.

Many friends and members of the families who lost loved ones on Koh Tao have already seen the video and praised its contents.  They are keen for the video to be viewed as widely as possible and that is (hopefully) where you come in.

Please take the time (under 5 minutes) to watch the video yourselves and then share it with your online friends on all your various social media platforms.

For the convenience of those of you on Twitter, the link below is a tweet from Ian Yarwood which you may simple retweet if you wish OR – even better - if you have an extra minute you can make your own tweet using the YouTube link which appears above:

By watching and sharing the video you will be helping to ensure that the tourists who perished on Koh Tao are not forgotten in addition to helping to ensure that Zaw Lin and Wai Phyo are not forgotten.  Furthermore, you might just help prevent other tourists from losing their lives on Koh Tao.

I thank you once again for your continued interest and support and wish you all a happy new year.

Christopher Harkins
