Justice for Christmas Campaign
Dec 10, 2015 — As we all get ready for the holiday season, let us please not forget that while we are wrapping presents and spending time with our loved ones, the families of David and Hannah have yet to receive any justice and two more innocents, Wai and Zaw, will find out on Christmas eve whether or not they will be murdered by the state for the heinous crimes that the authorities still refuse to properly investigate and instead spend their time covering up.
If you have even been slightly following the trial, then you surely have no doubt left whatsoever that the boys are innocent. Their DNA was absent on the murder weapon, yet the DNA of others is on there and the police refuse to investigate. They did not even look at the CCTV cameras of the Koh Tao docks to check if the murderers escaped in the morning. This case puts Thailand’s Justice System on trial and we are hoping that the pressure that all of you put on the media and the authorities to get involved will be enough for Win and Zaw to get a fair verdict and a real investigation started.
The next couple weeks are incredibly important. Please continue to share information about this case on social media. Many of us believe that the court chose December 24th as they think the media and the rest of the world will be too busy to focus on the verdict. In light of this, some supporters of our movement have put together a candlelight vigil campaign for Wai and Zaw to show our support for their innocence.
Please follow their group on Facebook and show your support by participating in the online vigil if you are able to. The idea is to draw attention to the upcoming verdict by lighting a candle each day for the 12 days before the court renders its verdict. This serves two main purposes.
1. It shows those who are trying to obstruct justice that we will not be distracted by the holiday season, and their plan will not work as we have not forgotten Wai, Zaw, David and Hannah.
2. It continues to spread information and awareness to the vast majority of people that still have not even heard of this case.
So beginning December 13th, if you can please take a minute each day and post a picture of yourself, write a message of support, or a lite a candle or anything else you think would be appropriate to symbolize your support for our cause and post it to your social media page. Also, please do so using the hashtag #JusticeforChristmas.
I think I can speak for most people that have been following this case that the greatest Christmas gift we can receive is the freedom of Wai and Zaw and the beginning of the real investigation into those who are responsible for these horrific crimes.
Thank you all so much for your continued support and feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or suggestions.
