Dear supporters,
Sorry for the silence from me -- it has been a difficult week for me and my family.
Our lawyer became informed last week that the judge has issued the guilty verdict for Ghoncheh for “propaganda against the regime” and has sentenced her to one year of imprisonment. Yet the judge refused to officially hand in this verdict and continued leaving Ghoncheh in her 131 days long limbo of uncertainty in the temporary detention centre of Evin prison. We haven't seen or spoken to her for 10 days but we know she began a dry hunger strike last Saturday, protesting the mishandling of her case. That means no food or liquid, which can be detrimental.
This has been an agonising few months that you have been supporting me and my family through - we are eternally grateful. We need you to stay with us. How Ghoncheh has been treated throughout is not only in violation of our universal human rights but also in violation of Iran’s judicial code. I cannot stay silent to this injustice and with your support I will try any avenue possible to influence this decision and get Ghoncheh back home.
TAKE ACTION:
Please write to your local MP and ask them to raise this case of an innocent British woman being sentenced to a year of hell for standing for her basic right of watching a volleyball match. If enough of us do this Ghoncheh's case will be brought to centre stage.
We are in a desperate situation and must try anything - please write to your MP.

I have written some suggested points that you can include in your letter below.
Thank you so much for everything.
Iman
--- Suggested points for email to your country leaders ---
1. A 25 year-old woman, Ghoncheh Ghavami, has been sentenced to a year in prison for attending a men’s volleyball game. She has done nothing wrong, even according to Iranian law and has become a victim of a mysterious situation.
2. Now her case is being mishandled and shrouded in secrecy. She needs to be removed from temporary detention and for the Iranian authorities to understand that they have not followed due process.
3. Over 700,000 people have signed a petition from around the world pleading with the Iranian government to free Ghoncheh
Please raise the issue of this British girl in Parliament so that our country unites to help her.
