Make an allowance for having multiples if changes to Child Benefit are made

The Issue

Having children is expensive, we all know that and of course we should bear that in mind when we make the decision to have them. However, in real life things aren't like that- children aren't always planned and in the case of twins, triplets and quads this is usually the case. This doesn't mean they aren't wanted or loved but having multiples presents a unique challenge with a big financial implication. As a Mum of 4 (triplets born when our daughter was 18 months) I have 4 sets of school shoes, 4 lots of school trip money to find, 4 lots of swimming lessons....the list goes on. I didn't plan to have 4 children but that's the way things worked out for me and I wouldn't change it for the world.

And it isn't just me, there are loads of us in this situation who have come to heavily rely on the extra help Child Benefit brings us. The main reason we need to work is the main reason we find it so difficult - child care even before or after school care can be prohibitive.

We don't yet know what you have planned for Child Benefit Mr Cameron but the word on the street is that it might be restricted to two children. If this is the case, we ask that you consider the parents of multiples and the financial burden on us.
