Ministerial debate on the mandatory reporting law which could well have saved Daniel's life is scheduled to begin next month. As Daniel's mother dies in prison, public and media attention turns again to the terrible suffering Daniel endured in the months leading up to his death, in regular contact with school staff who recorded their numerous concerns internally but failed to make any formal external report. Daniel was let down by multiple agencies - we now have the opportunity to make sure staff with professional responsibility for the welfare of children in their care are both supported and legally required to report suspected or known abuse.
