Emailed Request to DASD Board
Respected DASD Board of Directors/Dr.Lonardi,
Wish you a Happy New Year!
Thank You so much for doing an amazing job in providing the best possible education to the kids, especially during these difficult times. We appreciate all yours and staff efforts.
Not only does Downingtown Area School District has award-winning schools and award-winning students, it also has award-winning Leadership as well.
DASD Superintendent Dr. Emilie Lonardi was recognized for her outstanding Leadership and Downingtown High School marching band performed in 2022 Rose Parade recently. We are very proud of our school district due to many latest and past achievements.
We are seeing so many pandemic incidents increase especially in schools and public events on a daily basis. The infections count went up to more than a million people yesterday. It looks like it will be more 850K+ for today. We all are worried about what is happening out there especially with so many kids, teachers and staff being sick and out in our school district this week.
We are requesting for a temporary optional option for a few weeks to make classes remote/virtual.
We have created an online petition for this and 800+ parents already signed it.
This will help to contain the exposure to coronavirus a bit. This will also give time for the kids to get the booster vaccine which was approved on Monday and will also give an option for little kids with less immunity to stay at home for a few days. The cyber academy is not an option as the admissions are closed.
We request you to please consider our request and come up with an option for virtual classes (not mandatory for all) for a few weeks instead of risking kids, school teachers and staff health.
This will also provide an option for the kids to attend classes when under quarantine.
