ALL Old Live Animal Export Ships MUST be banned from Australia

The issue

(Pictured: the Bader III, built 1978, and the Maysora, built 1989)

Hundreds of thousands of animals have DIED hideous, wretched deaths on old livestock ships sailing from Australia.  Recently, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority was proposing a ban on ships over 20 years old. The proposal does not go far enough. It's suggesting the ban may only apply to shipments in Australia's winter months. This means ships will sail to searing temperatures in the Middle East. THAT IS NOT ENOUGH. If these ships are substandard, and we know they are, then there must be a complete ban.

Australian animals have died a slow sickening death. Many have died from heat exhaustion, cooking from the inside. Animals die of pneumonia, salmonella, injury and trauma on long, multi-port voyages of up to SIX WEEKS. Their suffering is immeasurable, horrendous, and indefensible.
