Give Instagram Users the Option to Have Chronological Feeds

The Issue

Ever since Instagram changed the way users see their feeds on their "home page" back in 2016, there has been large uproar from the Instagram community - and little reaction from Instagram. Both business users and just normal users show large disdain for having chronological order taken away and instead replaced with a new algorithm. Now, instead of seeing every post from all users one follows, Instagram tries to decide (in a very biased manner) what accounts one "likes the most", and prioritizes their posts to show at the top of the home page, making it nearly impossible to see some account's posts. Instagram has claimed this new algorithm is best for users, showing you what you're most interested. However, this makes it a hassle for many businesses or accounts that are just starting Instagram. So, instead of creating a petition to eradicate the algorithm that Instagram thinks so highly of, I propose that the company gives users the choice to manually switch between this algorithm and a chronological order for their feeds. This way everyone can be satisfied, and Instagram will stop seeing such harsh feedback from users growing wary of the way this app makes decisions for us. In fact this has already been done in a way. and successfully! Twitter now lets you manage whether you want to see the most important tweets in your feed or the latest ones. Please take time to consider this. Thank you for reading and remember to always speak up for what you believe in! -@danspiracies on IG
