"Public housing in your electorate has been demolished and it is clear that your government is intending to NOT replace it with 100% public housing. Instead your government is working with developers and community housing organisations to redevelop these sites, delivering large profits to developers with only community housing being built that will begin to charge tenants 30% of their incomes in rent, instead of 25% in public housing.
This demolished public housing was included in the Public Housing Renewal Program 4 years ago and so far nothing has been built!
Make the housing that will be built 100% public!
I want the Big Housing Build/Big Profits for Developers program to become the Big Public Housing Build program in Victoria!
There are close to 110,000 adults and children on the current waiting list who are homeless or are suffering from extreme housing stress due to limited housing stock and unaffordable rents in the private sector.
Public housing is an essential foundation for a fairer society in Victoria and the undersigned urges you to make sure your government returns to investing in public housing now!
Legislate to make affordable, secure housing a human right for all Victorians!"
