Final Meeting to Vote on Rezoning - Wednesday, March 8th at 6 pm

The final meeting in regards to this rezoning issue is happening Wednesday, March 8th, 6 pm at Dover City Hall. This meeting will be the FINAL public hearing where each resident gets up to 5 minutes to speak on why they oppose the rezoning. Following the public hearing, the City Council will have the final vote to decide whether or not to allow the rezone from R-20/I-4 to the proposed I-2 to allow for the USA Training Centers project to move forward. They’ve told us even though the project and the rezoning are “married”, that this meeting is strictly to vote on the rezoning. So plain and simple, we need you to stand up and let them know that rezoning this land to I-2 is inappropriate for the area and distracts from the rural characteristics of the neighborhood. Let’s say that they approve to rezone to I-2, this means that if the USA Training Centers project doesn’t go through we will be stuck with this zoning and could have anything put there. Do you want a big retailer like Walmart back there, either? The rezoning to I-2 is unacceptable in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Please help spread the word to your friends and neighbors in Dover. We need as many people as possible to come to this meeting and show the City Council that this rezoning should not be allowed. We’ve got ONE more shot. Let’s go big and show them that we care about preserving the nature of our neighborhoods.
