Hello change makers! OVER 1,000 supporters now that’s insane!
A letter was sent out on 3/23/20 from CVS CEO Larry Merlo regarding bonuses. These bonuses will “range from $150 to $500” and are going to be spread among “pharmacists and certain other health care professionals on the frontlines, store associates and managers, and other site-based hourly employees.” I still believe that all employees deserve an increase in pay instead but I am still grateful for this news.
They’ve also made a statement regarding sick leave and plans for caretakers. Employees will be able to “take advantage of up to 25 fully covered days of backup care. This benefit will begin in early April for both full- and part-time employees.”
For paid sick leave, full-time employees have always had access. But for part-time employees (effective March 22) CVS has made “24 hours of paid sick leave available to part-time employees for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic.” It’s also in addition to the 14-day paid sick leave you receive if you test positive for COVID-19 or have to be quarantined.
CVS even plans to hire 50,000 more people to meet the demand of this pandemic.
Thank you again for all of your help. Still hoping for drive thru services only to protect everyone. We’ll continue to monitor the situation.
