Yesterday we received the updated evidence bundle from the police, we had been expecting them to reduce what was needed in court to any recent events, ie things actually showing a need for the injunction.
However, what we got was the original 320 page bundle of very old material with an additional 30 pages of equally old and completely irrelevant material, most of which has absolutely nothing to do with the claim in any event.
I'm no expert, but after taking away all of the surplus material, their bundle, which currently stands at 358 pages, ends up as only 4 pages, the cover page, the index page and two pages of court summons.
It appears the police solicitors have no knowledge of the civil procedure rules or just don't care or more worryingly are deliberately trying to make us run up costs by asking lawyers to read this huge pile of irrelevant material just in order to say it should be disregarded.
The quote we have received is for 10 hours at £300 an hour just to do that!
We put in an objection to this and here is some of the text;
"The reality, as you must realise, this case is an abuse of process by a rogue police officer who has been thwarted in his attempts to criminally prosecute my me and is now resorting to abusing the civil court without any regard to the facts.
I strongly recommend you, as an officer of the court, seek further advice about continuing this matter which can only bring the Metropolitan Police into further disrepute.
This is now ridiculous."
