Due to our current situation, College Board and ACT Inc. are planning to continue to administer tests but at a later date or are considering offering the SAT and ACT online. With this new information, many colleges have decided to have the SAT and ACT become an optional part of the college admission process. Nonetheless, colleges are encouraging students to submit scores if they have them, as many colleges have stated this can provide an "extra boost" to be admitted. This is an unfair advantage for those students who have already taken this exam and can easily submit scores to colleges. This is a disadvantage for students who may never get the chance to take such an important exam. Therefore, this petition was specifically created to put a stop to all of this. We want to have all colleges in the U.S. consider the SAT and ACT as obsolete. While we realize that some scholarships consider these scores, there are other ways of measuring student efforts and college readiness besides these tests. We want equality amongst all college applicants this fall 2020. By canceling the submission of SAT and ACT scores across all colleges in the U.S., we can finally achieve the equity and access that we have been searching for.
