We were hoping for support from our provost and president when we sent them our statement. Only our provost responded and it was a disappointing remark about the need to comply. You can view his response at https://www.csun.edu/sites/default/files/EO1100-ProvostLiResponse.pdf. They seem to be open to other solutions in today's emergency meeting than a push for their C & D overlay GE requirement. Nonetheless, aside from the elimination of GE Section F Comparative cross-cultural studies, other departments also found other parts of the revised EO 1100 objectionable (upper division Science or Math requirement; double counting of GE and departmental requirements). We are working to come up with a new proposal that will save Section F. Please continue to circulate the petition to all you know so that we will have strong political pressure from outside as well as inside CSUN. Folks from other campuses can sign onto this as well and comment on other reasons for the repeal of EO 1100. Thank you for your support!
