In my junior year of high school, I worked with the OLMC food pantry in Elmsford. Initially, I started in 8th grade working with the same food pantry. I loved working with the food pantry and even went so far as to work there, not out of obligation but sheer enjoyment. But I noticed that as people completed their required service, the number of volunteers diminished quickly. This deeply stuck with me, as it seemed that people no longer wish to do good. This impact moved me to encourage service among my friends, not out of necessity, but out of a sense of serving others and a religious calling. As a Catholic, certain efforts can be made to help those in need.
