Thank you all for signing our petition to rehabilitate 65 Deaf students at TTCD, Bengaluru before it is demolished. Your support meant so much us to and has motivated us to take this fight for justice to the very end.
We are now 30,000+ strong now. Every signature count was helpful.
So, we have some exciting news to share with you all.
Firstly, It’s because of you all we have finally got a written commitment from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). In a press release, BMRCL referred to our petition and said “BMRCL will start its work only after this training centre is shifted to the new premises and would pay the rent till scheduled completion of the course of the current students.” We thank BMRCL for taking note of our concerns and for responding so promptly.
Secondly, we are grateful to the Karnataka State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Mr. Basavaraju for meeting our fellow friends and disability activists, who went on our behalf as we, Pooja and Namrata are currently not based at Bangalore, on (Monday, 15th July) by not only signing on our petition but also assuring us to intervene and rehabilitate the students of TTCD on a priority basis. The dean of the centre was also present. They will continue to be vigilant on the matter to ensure all goes as per their assurance.
We also want to thank Times of India journalist Mr. Christin Matthew Philip who broke the story and covered our campaign, helping us reach thousands of people. Also a special thank you mentions to disability activist Vaishnavi Jayakumar for her relentless support throughout. Deccan Chronical, Metrosaga, whatshotbangalore and Newzhook for covering it on their sites.
Thanks and Congratulations to you all yet again.
