on 7-6-2022 one of the youth at Ryan’s house in Coupeville Washington, was hit by a vehicle and killed. His name was Jacob Weigert and he was only twenty three years old.

Jacob along with many of the youth of Ryan’s house do not have personal transportation. Many rely on the public transportation that our island provides meaning they having to walk up and down the side of the highway. The location of Ryan’s house lacks safe walking space and has a low visibility at night due to lack of lighting.

Many vehicular accidents and close calls have happened a lot on this particular stretch of road in coupeville. We are trying our best to get WSDOT to fund a crosswalk, that will be placed Infront of Ryans House for the remaining and future youth who will be sheltered there.

What happened to Jacob was a tragedy and has left his family’s heart absolutely shattered. The most we can do in this time is support them and protect the other youth and familys by preventing future tragedies. These youth and future youth need this. ❤️
