It's election time in Queensland, and the fantastic folks at Australian Alliance for Animals and RSPCA Qld have reached out to the major parties to get their positions on animal welfare issues.

In regards to shark nets, here is where each party stands:

  • Both Greens and AJP have committed to replacing shark nets with non-lethal alternatives.
  • Labor get a red cross, as they have simply regurgitated their long held policy position that makes absolutely no commitments, and their track record shows that despite this being their policy position, they take no real action.
  • LNP have gotten a yellow tick, as their response showed they are more open to modernisation of the outdated SCP, but they have also not committed to anything concrete.

The scorecard image included in this update also shows their positions on other important issues, and you can learn more on the campaign website.

We encourage everyone to stand up for animals this election and support progressive policies and parties.
