Last week, we exposed some never before seen horrific cruelty perpetrated by Queensland Shark Control Program contractors.
This tiger shark was caught on a drumline at Kings Beach on 20/12/2023.
When the Government contractor arrives, one of the most horrific documented cases of animal cruelty takes place. The tiger shark is stabbed multiple times in the head, failing to kill the shark.
As the shark writhes in pain, the contractor gives up on this method of killing and instead proceeds to gut the shark whilst still alive (we have now been infmored this was to sever the main artery from the heart, which it appears from the footage is then removed as a trophy).
All of this takes place very near Kings Beach, creating a hazard for water users, who unbeknownst to them are just a short distance from a known shark attractant - a shark being gutted.
The Government have denied all wrongdoing, as say this was all done in alignment with protocol. They even had the audacity to suggest it was "humane".
