Thanks so much for signing. Please continue to share the petition. We have a funding application on 30th May. It is a big application to the York & North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership's Net Zero Fund. WE NEED TO SHOW AS MUCH PUBLIC SUPPORT AS POSSIBLE.
If we get this Net Zero application approved, it will enable us to complete some sections of the route between Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley, making a much safer route between the town of Kirkbymoorside and the villages of Nawton and Beadlam, Wombleton and Harome, AND improving the Helmsley Railbed so that wheelchair users and push-chair users can enjoy over 1km of countryside path.
There will still be more to do after the above work, but it will really make a big difference to the speed that the whole route can be completed, and it will make an immediate difference for safety, physical and mental health, and carbon footprint, for residents and for the visitor economy. Helen x
Achieving these sections will also increase confidence and backing for other very much needed safer paths elsewhere. It is not rocket -science, it is safer paths. It is perfectly possible, we just need enough backing.
