I made this petition to make sure that toxic houseplants are labeled. This issue affects family & beloved pets and we need change now! Please sign and share with others!

Many people are buying exotic & local houseplants from irresponsible nurseries/farms/hardware stores that are not labeling the plants with their names or any information for the consumer about the plant at all.

This is extremely dangerous to the people & animals residing in the house this plant will go to & makes the businesses look like they are only concerned with selling their wares & do not care if they hurt or even kill the occupants. So many cats & dogs are brought to vets with strange symptoms & then their owners are pretty much forced to put them down due to untreatable poisoning from now common but toxic houseplants. Babies who are grabbing & teething are probably at risk as well. Tragedies like this could potentially be avoided with bright orange stickers saying TOXIC TO PETS & TOXIC IF EATEN & definitely posting the correct name of the plant on the plant or pot. Pets, children, & even adults would definitely benefit.

I had a cat who died because he ingested a houseplant toxic to his body. A plant that if labeled with this important information I would have left for someone else to purchase. My heart is broken & I want no one else to experience this if it can be prevented & I sincerely believe it can at least be helped from happening with simple labeling & warning on the plants with orange stickers or symbols. Anything would be better than what we have now.
