Greetings people, 

Firstly, thank you everyone for the fantastic support - at the moment (Tuesday 26 August, which just happens to be the International Dog Day), we have over 255 signatures of support and Deputy Mayor Ian Johnson has kindly reiterated that he thinks a dog park at Natham Square Park "... is a fantastic idea."

There is an established protocol in terms of presenting the petition to the council, as follows:

I will submit the petition to the Council at their next Agenda Forum on Wednesday 3 September (forums establish items for future council meetings). I have two minutes to explain the petition and its aims, from there, the submission is handled by the staff for the council's consideration at the next meeting, Wednesday 10 September.

I feel it would be a great help, if everyone was able to email their local councillor, asking if they support the proposal. Local council elections are due on Saturday 18 October, so the timing is excellent in terms of getting their attention.

It doesn't need to be lengthy, just expressing your desire for the dog run to be established and a request for their response as to whether they will support the proposal or not. I've written a generic email to use if you wish, as follows:

Dear …….. (Councillor)
As a local dog owner, I’m writing to ask if you’re aware of the proposal (an ePetition is circulating) to create an Off-Leash fenced dog exercise area at Natham Square Park and whether you will support the proposal. I feel it’s an excellent, much needed facility and would be very beneficial for individual dog owners such as myself and the community. I look forward to your response.

I've posted below, a list of individual councillors emails, again thanks to everyone for their support, please, keep letting people know they can sign to support. There may also be new candidates to approach. 

I will continue to keep everyone informed of progress, here. on the FB Swan View Dog Park Community site, the various local neighbourhood FB sites and through our local newspaper, The Echo.
