Firstly, many thanks to everyone who's signed the petition, it's really gratifying and there does appear to be very genuine support. The State Government MIdland MP Steve Catania invited me to meet with him earlier this week, where we spent considerable time discussing what would be required. It is of course a decision for the City of Swan, but I suspect the City might call on the state government for a little financial assistance and it's important our Midland representative is across the detail.
The Echo newspaper continues to be very supportive in running articles on the proposal, for which I am very grateful, really the only way I've got of getting the word out about the petition is by articles, social media and word of mouth.
Interest from councilors is difficult to gauge - certainly Deputy Mayor Ian Johnson and Councilor Sarah Howlett have been very helpful / enthusiastic, but contact / interest from any other councilor has been zero. I now plan to email each councilor this weekend and ask what they feel about the proposal. We are heading to local council election time and it will be interesting to find out which candidates and sitting councilors are supportive of the needs of dog owners in the City of Swan.
As always, if you can pass on the need for as many people to sign the petition as possible, remembering they must be a resident of the City of Swan, that would be fantastic and assuming you're a dog lover, if you don't already know about the FB site, Swan View Dog Park Community, please feel warmly invited to join up.
Kind regards
Greg
