According to the MBTA "Active-duty military personnel ride all MBTA services for free. If in plainclothes, please present a valid military ID to MBTA staff". Which is a terrific benefit available, if you can utilize it.

However, for anyone who has rode the T during rush-hour, finding the MBTA staff is a challenge. This presents an unnecessary road-block for active-duty military personnel seeking to utilize this benefit. Creating a military-specific Charlie card that is tied to a service such as "ID.me" would be a simple way of verifying an individual's military service and granting them access to this benefit.
