Council blocks motion to permanently save Square!

On 7th July a motion was put forward at the Town Council meeting to permanently withdraw plans and protect the Village Square. All attending Labour Councillors voted against this motion. But were they really representing the feelings of their areas? With over 2100 online signatures, plus paper signatories bringing this to over 2500, the strength of feeling clearly shows that people want this area saved. But by voting in complete opposition they appear to be making this a political argument, not representing their people as they should be. One Labour Councillor accused the campaigners of spreading misleading information, which is incorrect. As it stands they could return at any time with new plans to change this historical area whenever, however they want. We are now asking people to provide evidence and information (as they asked in the meeting!) about keeping this area as a 'nominated green space'. The fight goes on!
