A legendary stretch of whitewater in Golden BC that has been rafted for almost 40 years is being lost, due to access issues with CP Rail. Late last week, Golden BC stakeholders entered into a meeting with CP Rail, with the expectation that we would be working with CP to come to a solution that would allow us to continue to raft the lower canyon. CP will not let anyone access the lower canyon. Rafters, recreational paddlers – no one. Period.

There is no interim solution. There is no long term solution. We are left with this news less than 60 days before local outfitters open for the season. CP must understand the significance of their decision and together with all levels of government we can work towards a solution.
