New update: Janice Jones & Joe Neal met separately with Bill Homes, Director of DRT and shared this petition as well as testimonials from parents. DRT is looking at reinstating the previous routes prior to the start of school. They also gave STSCO multiple free passes as there is currently a driver shortage but we have no idea how the board decides who gets them?
We have suggested to the board that they need to revisit who they contract these services out to others as clearly First Student and Century have had issues with hiring and retaining its staff. We’ve also suggested that a survey be done to see just how many students live outside of the immediate vicinity of the school. I think we’ll take that on ourselves as they have admitted they don’t have a logistics person assigned to these issues at the board level. Hmmmm!
From my own personal experiences my oldest daughter received medical busing last year as she’s a Type 1 Diabetic and her bus was cancelled a total of 8 weeks as they had no alternative driver! If I didn’t drive her, she would have missed 8 weeks of school in what was her final year!
Thank you again each and every one of you! We’ve definitely got their attention!
