Today the County Commissioners will be taking comments from the public about the proposed changes of the Comprehensive plan and map.

Its important that they understand the changes this would have on in Bonner County and the Sagle AREA in particular because the proposed changes include The Linscott Gravel Pit to all be changed(all 200+ acres) to be changed from Rural 5, to Mixed Use land use designation.

This change would allow gravel pits to be at that location in essence taking away the land use laws for nonconforming land.

Lets go over their expansion briefly. They have expanded onto other parcels, unlawful under nonconforming laws.

They expanded from 250 to 500% what was legal and faced as being pictures in the update, over 1.8 million in fines for being dishonest about how much they expanded from the Idaho Department of Lands. They only had to pay a $10,000 fine and change their reclamation plan.

With their major expansion and being caught, the Linscotts along with the Peaks, ended up changing our land use laws but asking for amendment to allow gravel pits to expand to their boundary lines.

Its an unlawful amendment but we didn't fight it like we could because all we want is to live peacefully with a gravel pit and not an asphalt plant.

Many lived here when a temporary one was in the pit and many neighbors had issues with smells, allergic reaction and noises and sadly no amount of conditional on a conditional use permit eliminate these.

Please mention its not ethical for any Linscott to be on a board as they discuss, comment and have influenced others about property they own or their family owns which is against the laws of Idaho.

Today you can be heard!

You can zoom in so please make sure you have Zoom on your computer or phone first.
