Neighborhood Council Rejects Playa del Rey Road Diets

Neighborhood Council Rejects Playa del Rey Road Diets Following two hours of heated public commentary, members of the Neighborhood Council of Weschester/Playa voted to officially condemn the implementation of several so-called Road Diets in their community. In a 16-2 vote, (with two abstentions), the local representatives agreed to send a strongly worded letter to their City Councilmember, Mike Bonin, asking him to “immediately reverse the lane reductions in Playa del Rey [on Jefferson & Culver] and implement other strategies to improve the safety, efficiency, and accessibility of our roads for pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles.” (Bike lanes will remain in place on Pershing.) The NCWP letter calls out the City for its lack of an “Open and Transparent Process” that left people “frustrated - not just by the changes, but at the feeling that their voices are not being heard.” In spite of the results, we still need to make it clear that the majority of PDR/Westchester/PV residents hate Bonin's road diets. IF YOU WERE UNABLE TO ATTEND THE MEETING, PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR COMMENTS AT: (213) 473-7023 or correspondingsecretary@ncwpdr.org Every win is critical, KeepLAMoving.com P.S. The un-ammended (Pershing is still listed) letter is available at http://www.ncwpdr.org/sites/default/files/NCWP/2017/NCWP%20Board%20Safe%20Streets%20for%20PDR%20Letter%20Final%20Draft.pdf P.P.S.
