Thanks again to the 2,015 who signed this petition. As you know, Bonin rejected our request for a VNC run Venice focused town hall, choosing instead to hold a CD11 wide town hall that cut out the VNC from having any say in format, moderator or providing questioners the ability to follow-up when questions were insufficiently answered.

A day after that event, the VNC did pass a motion asking Bonin for a Venice specific public safety town hall run by the VNC. The VNC process is very slow, it'll take a month for the official letter with that motion to go out and Bonin's office can take as long as they like to respond or not respond. Usually he doesn't bother in my experience unless a great number of people keep emailing and following up. I don't anticipate he will agree to address the VNC (even though he recently spoke at the Del Rey Community Council). I'm sounding like a broken record at this point, but if you want to show support for the VNC motion asking for a VNC town hall you can write mike.bonin@lacity.org, nisa.kove@lacity.org, arianne.garcia@lacity.org

There are a few other events I thought would be of interest to the people on this petition. Soledad Ursua has formed a VNC public safety committee which is going to meet on zoom at 5pm Thursday Dec 3. LAPD, Rec & Parks and Sanitation representatives will be on the call to address issues around Venice Beach https://www.venicenc.org/docs/34484844-9111.pdf If you have questions you'd like to make sure the committee addresses you can send them here: publicsafety@venicenc.org

Also there is a Q&A on Dec 9 at 5pm with the LA Alliance for Human Rights about their lawsuit against the city. This is the case that got Judge Carter involved with trying to break the gridlock around the homeless crisis. The information on that is here: https://www.venicecurrent.com/news/venice-current-to-host-town-hall-with-l-a-alliance-for-human-rights/article_cabe44f0-3335-11eb-90f8-3388a73fa135.html

Thanks again for participating in this effort and pushing for a safer community for everyone.

Alex
