Urgent Action Needed - 48 Trees May be Axed - To Build Bike Path!

The fate of 48 trees will be decided at the Town of Cottesloe Council Meeting Tuesday 24th July at 6:00 pm. The plan to build a bike path along Curtin Ave is welcomed and well overdue - but not at the expense of the trees! Why can't we build the bike path and save the trees? This is the question we need to ask the Cottesloe Council Tuesday night. Plus why are the plans so vague? And why must the trees be cut down, instead of left for shade? Carnaby’s Cockatoos use some of the Norfolk Island Pines that may get the axe as a food source, plus the strip of land as a wildlife corridor to get from place to place. We love bikes, we want the bike path but Cottesloe Council and Main Roads must be asked to keep our beautiful trees and Carnaby’s habitat. No-one knew the trees were to be axed until last Tuesday. If you don’t act fast council may chop these trees down and this habitat will be gone. We want a very short deferral and a proper public consultation process to get a bike path that doesn’t chop down 48 trees. Contact the council and attend the meeting 6.00pm Tuesday 24th July at Cottesloe Civic Centre, Broome Street Cottesloe, 6011
