On April 11th, OCEA is uniting educators and community members to stand up for a Cost of Living Adjustment in a COLA Rally at the School Board Meeting - 5pm, 817 Bill Beck, Blvd., Kissimmee!
Since we began this petition on October 20th, thousands of educators, parents, family members, and Osceola tax payers have fought diligently to help educators earn a respectable salary. With grueling inflation levels affecting groceries, gas, and housing, our educators can't keep pace with their bills. Teachers and support professionals deserve to be able to provide for their families and live in the community they love. But current salary conditions are forcing many of our best employees to leave the classroom forever.
Despite SDOC's stall tactics, we have made tremendous progress on our COLA campaign this year. We have packed multiple school board meetings, orchestrated an email campaign, improved bargaining negotiations, distributed hard-hitting press releases, combed through an analysis of SDOC's budget, and an increased our social media presence. Our voices are being heard!
We believe SDOC is close to making a final decision!
We KNOW they have the money to increase salaries significantly. In the Materials and Supplies budget line item alone, there are over $60 million which could be returned to the general fund and used for salaries. All it would take is a budget amendment from the the school board.
We need as much support as possible at this Tuesday's School Board meeting to convince them to fund our COLA. Please join us! RSVP here. We'll have t-shirts and pizza, too!
YOU make a HUGE difference just by showing up! We've got this!
Onwards!
