First the very good news.
For over a year now, behind the scenes the campaign team have been working tirelessly with the council, dealing with the plans to build a rum distillery on the site of the raceway.
We are extremely pleased to announce that on 14 October 2021, Cornwall Council's planning department issued a 'deemed refusal' decision on the planning application PA20/09415.
This was due to the absence of an Environmental Statement, which was a requirement following the positive screening direction issued by the Secretary of State.
Now for the bad news.
Whilst we recognise the interest and enthusiasm shown by racegoers and other users of the United Downs Raceway in relation to the planning decision, it is important to note that the lease for the site is still set to end on 31 October 2021.
The request for an extension to the lease is still being discussed, but remains unresolved for now.
As things stand we have two meetings left on 24th and 31st October, where we would encourage all drivers to race, and all spectators to come and watch while you can
